Job Description Job Description Staff Accountant (Part-Time,
Contract) - Manufacturing Type: Contract/Temporary (2-3 months)
with potential to extend or convert to Full-Time Schedule: 8-16
hours per week; flexible days/times (may increase slightly as
needed) Location: Remote after short training period (2-3 days in
Chicago) Role Overview The Staff Accountant will provide day-to-day
accounting support, reconciliations, journal entry preparation,
cash posting and accounts payable for a manufacturing company. This
part-time role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who can
quickly learn new systems, maintain a positive, service-oriented
attitude, and jump in where needed. You will assist with daily cash
transactions, month-end close, and projects to streamline
accounting processes. Key Responsibilities Post daily cash
transactions and prepare cash-related journal entries Complete
daily bank/cash reconciliations; investigate and resolve variances
Support Accounting Manager with weekly check runs and ACH/wires
Research and clear exceptions or duplicate entries Assist with GL
account reconciliations (cash, AR/AP, accrued expenses,
inventory-related accounts) Prepare routine journal entries and
support close checklists/documentation Provide ad-hoc support to
the Controller/Finance leadership and cross-functional partners
Uphold GAAP and internal control standards Participate in small
projects to streamline and improve various accounting processes
Required Qualifications Manufacturing industry accounting
experience 2-5 years of relevant accounting experience (staff or
equivalent) Proficiency with Excel Ability to learn new
ERPs/systems quickly (e.g., SAP, JD Edwards, NetSuite, Infor,
Epicor, Microsoft Dynamics, or comparable) Strong accuracy,
organization, and follow-through; confidential handling of
financial data Hours & Contract Terms 8-16 hours per week with
flexible scheduling (days/times); may increase slightly based on
project or month-end needs Contract duration: 2-3 months, with
possibility to extend or convert to permanent full-time, contingent
on business needs and performance Compensation & Benefits
Competitive hourly rate ranging from $27-$32 per hour Due to
