The Quality Engineer is responsible for implementing quality and
compliance activities in a manufacturing plant.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Analyze statistical data
and product specifications to determine standards and establish
quality and reliability objectives of finished product - Formulate
sampling procedures and designs and develop forms and instructions
for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability
data - Direct workers engaged in product measurement, inspection,
and testing activities to ensure quality control and reliability -
Implement methods and procedures for disposition of discrepant
material and defective or damaged parts and assess cost and
responsibility - Coordinate and implement quality control
objectives, activities, or procedures to resolve production
problems, maximize product reliability, or minimize costs - Review
operations and confer with technical or administrative staff to
resolve production or processing problems which result from root
cause analysis - Creates a Quality culture by driving compliance
activities around a specific product, site or region - Explains
complex information to others in straightforward situations. -
Assist in determining root cause failures for quality
non-conformance - Assist with 3rd party certifications to UL, FM
Approval, Military specifications, etc. - Read and understand
customer drawings and specifications. - Record, maintain and
sustain integrity of the Non-Conforming Requests information table
in Excel - Perform containment activities and establish bookends
for supplier quality issues. - Coordinate sending equipment out for
calibrations including packaging, obtaining quote and requisition
approval. - Confirms failed inspection results utilizing Cross
Functional Team and documents. - Track and manage next steps in the
Material Review Board cage/log - Perform visual inspection on
assigned jobs as required. Follow Visual Inspection Criteria (VIC)
and General Visual Inspection Guidelines - Perform dimensional
verification activities using, but not limited to, the following:
CMM, calipers, veneers, gages, and micrometers - Corrective Action
Reporting - Maintain measurement equipment by following operating
instructions, calibrations, and repairs - Responsible for keeping
equipment and work area clean and orderly - Assists Operations with
the documentation and handling of nonconforming products. - Records
inspection results on designated forms following proper GDP
requirements. - Performing Gage R & R - Verifies and sign-off
approve packaging and labeling as neededRequirements:
Qualifications and SkillsCritical Thinking - Using logic and
reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative
solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problemsCoordination -
Adjusting actions in relation to others' actionsComplex Problem
Solving - Identifying complex problems and reviewing related
information to develop and evaluate options and implement
solutions. - The role operates with some autonomy but is focused on
execution of activities/provision of advice within an enabling
discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering or technical discipline; or
non-technical degree with a minimum 5 years of experience in
manufacturing, engineering, or quality assurance - 2 plus years
related experience preferred - Flexible shifting priorities day to
day - Eagerness to learn - Ability to work safely and adhere to
company policies and procedures. Technology Skills - Understanding
of Coordinate Measuring Machine and basic programming strategies.
