a job well done! The Role Service Technician - Technology The
Service Technician is responsible for the technical repair and
service work for a wide range of low voltage systems. They provide
diagnostic review, repair, and replacement of parts as well as the
replacement and installation of equipment. Key responsibilities
include diagnosing issues, performing system upgrades, managing
inventories of tech equipment, and assisting with software
installations and updates. This role requires proficiency in
troubleshooting hardware and software problems, customer service
skills, and a strong understanding of technology tools. A strong
focus on communication and problem-solving is essential in this
role. What You'll Do as a Service Technician - Technology Assists
with maintaining customer relationships based on dependability and
honesty. Ensures that long term customer relationships are
protected by providing value added services and effective
communication, bridges communications between customers personnel
and Suburbans team members. Functions in all building types and
customer markets; industrial, commercial, residential; maintains
GMPs and safety requirements as required, knows construction
methods and related codes in each area of industry. Establishes
service by studying system requirements; ordering and gathering
components and parts; completing resolution; performing acceptance
tests and commissioning. Reviews work orders and job files for all
pertinent data including job layout drawings, specifications and
other technical data as required for a more efficient service,
inspections and installations. Troubleshoots and identifies
malfunctioning or inoperative equipment and cause of failure on
systems including CCTV, Fire Alarm, Burglar Alarm, Card Access,
Paging, Structured Cabling and any future systems supported in the
Technology Division, using electronic testing equipment and
electronic theory. What You Bring (Required Experience) High school
diploma or general education degree (GED). Minimum of 3-5 years
experience with electronics and/or low voltage systems. Willingness
to travel up to 25%. Must be certified in CPR and First Aid or able
to obtain certification shortly after the start date. NFPA70E
training. This position may require team members to drive a company
vehicle. If so, team members must possess a valid drivers license
and have a good driving record that allows the company to ensure
such individuals under the companys insurance policies. Team
members must also carry auto liability insurance. The team member
will be subject to the Companys policy concerning company vehicles.
Understands the functionality of Computer systems and network
devices. Understands the mechanical functionality of equipment.
Demonstrate the ability to understand and apply NFPA70E to the
equipment being worked on and the work environment. Understands the
NEC and NFPA code and apply these standards to the work being
performed. Advanced power tool utilization. Advanced data and
security device knowledge. Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot
processes and systems. Defuses conflict effectively; can easily
read customers reactions and respond appropriately. Ability to
communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with team
members, customers and vendors of all levels. Bonus Points For
(Preferred Experience) Certifications: Certifications like BICSI
(Building Industry Consulting Service International), Low Voltage
Technician certifications, or NICET (National Institute for
Certification in Engineering Technologies) are often preferred.
Familiarity with Industry Standards: Knowledge of local, state, and
national building codes, safety protocols, and industry regulations
for low voltage installations. Troubleshooting Skills: Ability to
diagnose and repair low voltage system malfunctions. Project
Management: Experience managing or assisting with low voltage
system installations, ensuring work is completed on time and within
specifications. Work Environment Flexibility: Comfort working in
various environments, including residential, commercial, and
industrial sites, often requiring climbing ladders, working in
confined spaces, or outdoors. Basic Knowledge of Networking:
Understanding of network protocols and the ability to work with
network-based devices (e.g., IP cameras, access control systems).
