is a transitional group home serving at-risk youth with complex
medical and emotional needs, ages 0 to 18. Founded to bridge gaps
of care during a child’s life, we provide a safe and nurturing
home-like environment with 24/7 nursing care and mental health
support. As a Child Support Specialist, you’ll play a vital,
hands-on role in supporting children’s daily care, learning, and
emotional well-being. You’ll work under the guidance of licensed
staff and be part of a compassionate team dedicated to helping
every child thrive. What You’ll Do Direct Support & Engagement:
Assist children with meals, hygiene, recreation, and daily
routines; provide one-on-one or small group support during
activities. Behavioral & Emotional Support: Implement behavior
strategies under staff direction; use trauma-informed responses to
help children manage emotions. Collaboration & Communication: Share
observations with supervisors, join team meetings, and work closely
with nurses, social workers, and staff. Health & Safety: Maintain a
safe environment, follow care plans, and assist with transportation
to appointments, school, or outings. Requirements: Must be 21 or
older High School Diploma or GED required (some college in child
development, education, or human services preferred) Experience
working with children, especially in residential, special
education, or behavioral health settings Must pass DCFS background
check, fingerprinting, and complete mandated reporter &
trauma-informed training Valid Illinois driver’s license (preferred
if transportation support is needed) Key Competencies Compassion,
patience, and empathy for children who’ve experienced trauma
Ability to work as part of a team with flexibility and
professionalism Familiarity with trauma-informed care and child
development (preferred) Comfortable assisting with physical care
tasks and behavioral redirection
